Edmonton Family Photographer: The Denholm Family

It's a good thing we had a photoshoot booked for Sunday...the weather was way too gorgeous for us to stay cooped up at home!

We met the Denholms in Emily Murphy Park, and I was honored to be the photographer that they chose for their first family shoot ever. :-)

They are a wonderful couple, and their son is just adorable! Here are a few of my faves.

Enjoy!

Spruce Grove Maternity Photographer: Charlene & Little Boy Baby Bump

The weather was pleasant, the light soft, and my gorgeous cousin was just glowing with maternal beauty!

I can't tell you just how excited I am to share this session!

Char was a real trooper as I made her walk the trails of Spruce Grove with me, and was more than willing to agree to my every photographic whim!

Congrats to you and Les on what will soon be the newest member of your lovely family.

Enjoy!

Afternoon Delight-Spruce Grove Baby Photographer

I had the absolute privilege of being able to photograph Bailey and her wonderful family over the course of two afternoons. She's the newest addition to the Piwowar/Yeoman family, and everyone is so thrilled that she's finally home. :-)

Here are a few of my favorites from both sessions.

Enjoy!!

Goofing off Around the House

For the past month and a half, I've been helping my good friend Heather by watching her daughter during the week. Little miss C and I had a lot of fun while she was here, and among baking, movies, walks and coloring, she also had the misfortune of being my photographic guinea pig. :-)

We all know how I love to find new helpless victims for any type of photographic endeavour!

Can you tell that I've been going through a bit of a B&W obsession lately? I just love how it brings out the sparkle in her eyes (and this kid has SUCH amazing eyes!).

Enjoy!

Rediscovering My Creative Side

I hate creative slumps.

Like writer's block for photographers, creative slumps can make you feel like you have absolutely no idea what you are doing. Your photos are "blah" and you just don't feel inspired anymore. Let's face it, when you have a fabulous camera and the knowledge on how to use it, you don't want your photos to look like you took them with a $10 disposable camera.

You want impact! You want style! You want art!

Me too.

Yet, I felt that lately, my photos had merely been snapshots of my life. Max, the cat, Justin, random things around the house...all parts of who I am, but the way that I was approaching my photos was very uninspiring.

Since I've become a member of Clickin Moms ( www.clickinmoms.com ) I've come across some wonderful advice and valuable insights into getting out of the dreaded slump.

So yesterday, I decided to put some of that collective wisdom to the test.

Max is enamoured with Justin's musical instruments. Acoustic guitar and banjo seem to be the strings of choice. I wanted to do a series that would showcase our little man's budding musical ambitions.

What do you think? Did I capture the essence of a child surrounded by music? How about a child who can't wait to pick up his first guitar or banjo?

Of course, photography, as an art form, is open to interpretation. These are the things that I wanted to show, but are there others that come to mind when you see these photos?

Your comments and ideas are always welcome!

Enjoy!

Spruce Grove Baby Photographer: Sweet Baby B and her Loving Family

This past weekend, Baby B and her parents braved the bitter Alberta winter to swing by my little home based studio for a few indoor photos.

This was the first real crack that I've had at using my indoor backdrops and props for photographing someone other than my own child.

Truth: I was stressed out and nervous.

Reality: I didn't need to be. The lovely natural light that enters my front windows coupled with the smiley demeanour of this sweet little girl made my camera sing!

And I love when that happens. :-)

Enjoy!
